Have you heard about Spotify airplay ?
Thanks for getting back to us. Since you can only save entire albums, unfortunately there is no way to listen to albums partially. You can get around this problem either by adding the songs you want to hear from the album to your Queue, or you can create a playlist with just the songs that you want to listen to. Bowtie is a simple Mac app for those wanting a simple solution for controlling their favorite music player. With Spotify on Mac, you can control it from the dock icon, but it’s a bit clumsy and inconvenient. If you choose to open it full screen, it can also be a pain switching back and forth between spaces/desktops. I have multiple playlists that I create for different genres of music. I would like to see which spotify users listen to my playlists and if possible how frequently they do. If you use spotify on a computer, you have the ability to see what your friends are listening to. Here’s how to do it: 1. Open the desktop version of Spotify. If you do not have one on your computer yet, download and install the app from Spotify’s official site. Log into your PC’s Spotify app. With Spotify opened, click on the Play Queue button (hamburger icon with a play button) positioned on the lower-right part of the screen. Step 2 Set Spotify Offline Mode. Once you've downloaded all the music and playlist, you can go ahead to set the Offline Mode of Spotify app. For PC or Mac: Open Spotify, click - click File- select Offline Mode (Open Spotify on Mac, click Spotify in the Apple menu, select Offline Mode).
You’ve probably heard about Spotify, the music streaming service that gives you access to millions of songs at the click of a button. All you have to do to access Spotify’s amazing catalogue of songs is sign up. There are multiple levels of membership, so you can choose the one that works for you, and in no time, you’ll be listening to your favourite songs and you can do it on a variety of platforms and devices.
You can load Spotify onto your iPhone and stream music that way, but it does take up space, it also requires a lot of your phone’s memory. If you are at home, with access to your home computer and your wifi network, you can use Airplay to stream music directly from your Mac to your iPhone. Airplay can be run in the background and is not as intensive as Spotify, so you can run it while still using your phone for other things.
Using Airplay to Play Spotify
Streaming music from your computer to your iPhone is convenient when you wish to use your phone for other things and don’t want to be stuck in the Spotify app. The Spotify app is great for travel and for times when you just want to be listening to music, but there are times when you want to be able to listen to music while still doing other things with your phone. This is when it is great to use Airplay to stream the music from your Mac to your iPhone. You can play your favourite games, while listening to your music in the background.
You might ask why you wouldn’t just play Spotify from your computer. However, you may not want to be stuck being in one place. You can’t move through your house with your computer, you can with your iPhone. So by streaming music from your Mac to your iPhone, you have the ability to be in any room that you want and still listen to your favourite music.
Besides, Airplay is not limited to your iPhone. You may want to stream from Spotify to another Apple device, most notably Apple TV. Spotify is not yet available on your Apple TV, but Apple TV is Airplay accessible, so you can access Spotify on your Apple TV that way. To stream from your Mac to your Apple TV, you follow the steps above and select Apple TV instead iPhone. This is great if you are having a party and want to stream music, but your computer is upstairs and your Apple TV is in your living room. Or even if you just want to stream music while you cook dinner or clean. Whatever the reason, streaming from your Mac to another iOS device gives you more freedom to listen to your favourite songs without being chained to your desktop.
Part 2. How to Remote Control Spotify from iOS on Mac
Being able to stream you music from your computer to your iPhone or other iOS device is great. But sometimes you don’t mind using your computer to stream your music while you are off doing other things, you just wish you didn’t have to constantly get up and go back to your computer to manager your songs and you don’t have to. You can use Spotify Connect to manage your various Spotify devices remotely. This allows you to use your iPhone to manage the music that is currently being played by Spotify on your Mac.
Using Spotify Connect
Just like there are times when you want to be able to stream music from your computer to your iPhone, there will be times when being able to remote connect from your iPhone to your computer will come in handy. For example if you are making dinner you may want to have Spotify play in the background, possibly even in another room, however you might not be able to keep getting up to manage your device. However, you can keep your iPhone next to you and it’s much easier to grab your phone and manage your music, then to keep going back and forth from your computer.
Spotify App For Mac
You might not ask why not just stream from your iPhone? Because you probably have a better sound system on your computer than you do on your iPhone. So if you want to be able to listen to music at the best quality, without having to sit at your computer, using connect on your iPhone is a great option. It gives you the freedom of mobility, while at the same time accessing Spotify at the best possible sound quality. Spotify tries to make your listening experience as good as possible, which is why features like Spotify Connect exist, so you have the flexibility to use Spotify however you want.

I don’t live in the US but I listen to music via Spotify’s web app when I’m writing or just browsing the net. I use the free ad-supported tier because I don’t need access to premium mobile features (podcasts FTW) and it’s better than blatant piracy.
Cool Tip: I use Hola Unblocker Chrome extension to mask my real location in Spotify’s web player. That’s also how I made the Spotify account.
How Do I Listen To Spotify On My Laptop
The reason I don’t use Spotify’s stellar Mac app is because every week or so I get kicked off for “not being in a supported country”. I need to reinstall the app and wait for the game of cat and mouse to begin again. So eventually I just gave up and settled on the web player. I don’t get support for plugins but that’s OK.
One thing I sorely miss on the Mac app is access to Mac’s built in Play/Pause, Next, and Previous keys. When you’re listening to music on Spotify/Pandora/Rdio on the web, the tab is usually in the background. I hate going hunting for it every time I need to pause playback.
Which is why I’m glad to share with you a simple Mac menubar utility that lets you control more than a dozen web based music/media player sites using your Mac’s media keys. All you need to do is use a keyboard shortcut to set the current tab as active and just like that Mac’s media keys will take over the tab’s playback.
How To Install BeardedSpice
Download the zipped file from the website, use Mac’s built in Archive Utility to unzip it, and drag the unzipped app to the Applications folder. The first time you open the app, Mac will give a default warning. Just click Open.
Hello YouTube: BeardedSpice supports video sites like YouTube and Vimeo as well with no issues in performance. Scroll to the last section for the entire list of supported services.
Now you’ll see the BeardedSpice logo in the menubar. As the name suggests, the logo is a beard and a mustache.
How To Use And Configure BeardedSpice
Now that BeardedSpice is up and running, go to any of the supported web based media players. Click the menubar utility and you’ll see the media tab listed.
Click on a web page to activate it. A checkmark beside the selected site will show up.
Configuring Keyboard Shortcuts
To make the activation process for web based players as quick as possible, BeardedSpice supports keyboard shortcuts. The default shortcut to activate BeardedSpice is Cmd+F8. F8 is conveniently also the Play/Pause key.
But for some reason I found this shortcut to be buggy. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Thankfully, you can change the keyboard shortcut.
Click the BeardedSpice menubar utility and go to Preferences. Here click on the space beside Set active tab and type in your preferred shortcut. I have mine set to Cmd+8 as it’s right below the Play/Pause button.
Enable/Disable Supported Services
From the same Preferences menu you can decide which web players you don’t want BeardedSpice to interact with.
Here’s the entire list of supported web players:
